Mayhem’s Bartus named SPHL Player of the Week

MACON, Georgia (MAYHEM RELEASE) – It hasn’t taken long for the Macon Mayhem to make a splash in the Southern Professional Hockey League.

In just the second weekend of play, goaltender Garrett Bartus has earned honors as the SPHL’s Easton Player of the Week.

Bartus, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds from St. Charles, IL, recorded the team’s first shutout in history with a 4-0 win over Columbus on Saturday night. He turned aside all 30 shots he faced in that game including stopping a penalty shot. On Friday night, he stopped 34 of 36 shots in a 2-1 loss to Huntsville. For the week he was 1-1-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and .970 save percentage. For the season, Bartus is 1-1-1 with a 1.96 goals against average and .941 save percentage.

Bartus and the Mayhem return to action Friday night at Mississippi against the RiverKings. The next home game is November 13 against the same RiverKings.
