Mayhem drops overtime game in Mississippi

SOUTHAVEN, MISSISSIPPI (MAYHEM RELEASE) – The Macon Mayhem rallied from two separate two goal deficits but lost in overtime 4-3 to the Mississippi RiverKings Friday night. It was the second time in five games the Mayhem have lost in either overtime or a shootout.

Leo Thomas did most of the damage for the RiverKings, scoring a hat trick with all three Mississippi goals in regulation time. It was his linemate, Ryan Marcuz, though who scored the game winner just 1:10 into overtime. Marcuz assisted on two of Thomas goals.

Trailing 2-0, the Mayhem got on the board when Joshua Ranalli scored at 4:18 of the second period. Thomas then completed his hat trick, giving the RiverKings a two-goal cushion. Daniel Gentzler cut the lead to 3-2 with just under two minutes left in the second period.

Gentzler set up Lucas LaBelle to tie the game at 14:07 of the third period. Gentzler now has six points (two goals and four assists) in the Mayhem’s five games.
