Man shot and killed at Cochran party

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Right now police from three different police agencies are looking for a suspect who gunned down a man at a party in Cochran early Friday morning.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it happened just after midnight at the Cochran Community House on Third Street.

The shooting took place right next to Middle Georgia State University.

Hundreds of people were there when the shooting happened. But GBI Special Agent In Charge , Scott Whitley said, “Investigators are having a tough time tracking down eyewitnesses that may lead them to the shooter.”

24-year-old Devonte Johnson was rushed to The Medical Center Navicent Health but died there.

Whitley said, “Johnson was not enrolled at Middle Georgia State University. He is from East Dublin, but many his family members are in Wrightsville, Georgia.

The GBI said no one has been arrested yet, but they’re working with the Cochran Police Department and Middle Georgia State University Police to track down leads.
