Man hospitalized after Thursday night shooting in Fort Valley

A man in his early 30s was shot Thursday night in Fort Valley after an altercation escalated, according to Fort Valley Police Chief DJ Flores.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man in his early 30s was shot Thursday night in Fort Valley after an altercation escalated, according to Fort Valley Police Chief DJ Flores.

Officers responded around 7:15 p.m. to Magnolia Terrance in the the 700 block of Green Street after receiving a report of a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers learned that two men had been involved in a dispute, which led to one of them firing a gun at the other, Flores said in an email response to an inquiry from 41NBC.

An unidentified person took the victim to Atrium Health Navicent Peach for treatment. He was later transferred to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. His condition remains unknown at this time.

Police have identified a person of interest in the shooting, but the investigation is ongoing.
