Man found dead in Twiggs County, autopsy scheduled for Friday

TWIGGS COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Twiggs County Sherriff’s Deputies discovered a body in the woods on Wednesday. They say it may be related to a missing person’s case in the area.

Chief Deputy James Faulk says they received a call about a missing person who was last seen early Sunday morning. GBI Investigator Todd Crosby says a body was found in the same general area as that missing person.

“On Wednesday, they had approximately 20 G.S.A.R.s or Georgia Search and Rescue members out searching with the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday afternoon, G.S.A.R.s found a body in the woods off of Hammock Road.”

Chief Deputy Faulk says they’re currently working to see if the two cases match. The body is at the crime lab and has yet to be identified.

Investigators say they don’t know what the cause of death is just yet, but the autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.
