Man dies from injuries in auto accident on Interstate 75

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man has died as a result of injuries he received following an accident on Interstate 75 last week, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s news release.

Edward Boland of Bonaire died at the Medical Center Navicent Health Monday, around 5 p.m.

The accident happened around 6:30 p.m., on I-75 south between Hardeman Avenue and Mercer University Drive.

The 66-year-old was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban was ejected from the SUV during the accident, the news release added.

Arno Quon, 51, was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna on I-75 south in the middle lane. Boland was also driving in the middle lane of the interstate.

“The Chevrolet Suburban came up behind the Toyota Sienna and attempted to enter the right southbound lane, striking the Toyota Sienna,” according to the news release. “The Chevrolet Suburban continued into the emergency lane on the right side of the southbound lanes, striking the guardrail. The Suburban then traveled to the left side of the southbound lanes, striking the cement divider between the southbound and northbound lanes coming to a stop.”

Quon and the passengers in his vehicle were checked out by paramedics at the scene and were not taken to the hospital.

“This accident is currently under investigation,” said Lt. Randy Gonzalez. “There are no charges at this time of the investigation.
