Man arrested in Bibb County armed robbery case

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One man is arrested while another remains on the loose after an armed robbery that occurred in the Tindall Heights area early Tuesday morning.

According to a news release, 17-year-old Reginald Jacobs, Jr. of Macon was charged with Armed Robbery and Felony Theft by Taking after he reportedly stole a 2012 Kia Forte at gunpoint.

The incident happened around 2:40 a.m. at an apartment complex parking lot on Plant Street. The victim was standing by his car when he was approached by two men. Jacobs is said to have pulled a silver handgun and demanded money. After the victim failed to produce any cash, they asked for his phone and car keys instead.

About an hour later, the Kia was spotted on Rocky Creek Road by a deputy who made an attempt to stop the vehicle. After a brief chase that ended at a dead end, the driver and passenger of the Kia got out of the car and fled the scene.

A short time after that, a different Macon-Bibb Sheriff’s deputy spotted a man riding a bicycle near the area where the Kia was abandoned. After another chase, the suspect was apprehended and was identified as Jacobs. The bicycle had apparently also been stolen, and was returned to the owner.

The second suspect is described as being either a white or Hispanic male, with several tattoos, and wearing all blue clothing.

Anyone with any information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Macon-Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or call Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
