Man arrested for stabbing Milledgeville Police officer at mobile home park early Sunday

A Milledgeville Police Department officer was stabbed multiple times, and another officer shot the suspect early Sunday morning.

UPDATE (4/16/2025) The Milledgeville Police Department arrested Ali Rasheed Washington on April 15 at 8 p.m. in connection to the stabbing of an officer.

Washington was charged with violation of parole, possession of a firearm or knife during commission of  a crime and two counts of aggravated assault against law enforcement.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Milledgeville Police Department officer was stabbed multiple times, and another officer shot the suspect early Sunday morning.

Both the officer and suspect were taken to area hospitals and are now listed in stable condition.

According to a police department news release, officers responded to an incident in the 100 block of Monroe Street inside Milledgeville Estates Mobile Home Park.

Police did not say why they originally responded. While officers were speaking with family members gathering information, the “subject in question” charged officers with a knife and stabbed one of the officers multiple times.

“While the subject was stabbing the officer, a second officer on scene then shot the subject,” the release said.

Police have not identified the officers involved or the person accused in the stabbing.

Chief Dray Swicord has requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to investigate.
