Power restored after man crashes into utility pole in Macon

UPDATE (11:10 a.m.):

Power has now been restored to the Houston Avenue area as of 7:30 a.m.

A damaged utility pole caused the outage.


MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for DUI in Macon early Friday morning.

He crashed into a utility pole on Houston Avenue near Hightower Road.

23-year-old Garret Head was traveling north on Houston Avenue.

He told deputies he swerved to miss a car that had gotten into his lane going the opposite direction.

He went off the road and hit the pole.

No one else was there when deputies got there.

Head said he wasn’t injured and didn’t want medical assistance.

He went to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for DUI.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies are rerouting traffic on Houston Avenue between Hightower Road, south to Cleveland Street due to the damaged utility pole.

Georgia Power is repairing the pole to restore power.
