Macon’s historic sites attract people from all over country for the weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon’s historic features are attracting people from all over the country.

People from 26 different states will be in town this weekend to tour historic sites. It’s part of Rhode Island’s 1772 Foundation Revolving Fund Summit.

The foundation is also giving Historic Macon a $250,000 grant for its Fading Five Project.

Historic Macon Executive Director, Ethiel Garlington says Macon is proving that is has a lot to offer.

“Maconnites and the community forget that or we may take it for granted,” said Garlington. “But the creative and entrepreneurial work that we’re doing to help save neighborhoods and help save historic places really is unlike any other community in the country.”

The summit starts Sunday February 11 and is expected to go on until Tuesday February13.
