Macon Water Authority buys B&G Water Company
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Macon Water Authority bought B&G Water Company Monday for $300,000.
The owners of B&G approached the Macon Water Authority about buying their privately owned water system.
450 new accounts will be added from the South Macon-Bibb County area to Macon Water Authority.
The reason for the buyout?
The owners say they are just tired.
Working nonstop since 1963, Bob Carey and Reggie Gibson say they haven’t had a vacation since the 70’s.
Bob Carey is also a pastor and he said that after passing out last March during a church service, he knew his body was telling him to slow down.
He doesn’t want to sell the company but knows it’s time.
The sale will take away B&G customers’ reliance on wells.
There will be several neighborhood meetings to inform B&G customers of the details of the buyout and answer any questions that may arise.
The meetings, set up to accommodate customers from specific areas, will be held at South Bibb Recreation Complex at 7035 Houston Road.
The meeting times and dates are as follows:
- Hooper Hill Subdivision: April 8 – 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Von Reg, Jones Road, Green Hill Subdivisions: April 9 – 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Goodall Mill, Gibson Dr., Meri HIll, Chick-A-Dee, Thorn Hill, Nob Hill, Juanita Dr. Subdivisions: April 11 – 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
