Macon store employee lies to deputies about theft, admits to stealing
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man has been charged for lying to police and stealing money from the fireworks store he worked at.
24-year-old Joshua Collins told the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office a man came into the store and demanded money from him at Jake’s Fireworks on Mercer University Drive.
He said the man had a gun and was also going to rob the Jake’s Fireworks on Gray Highway.
Deputies went to the Gray Highway store where employees told them the back door was open when they got there and money was gone.
When deputies talked to Collins again during the investigation, he admitted he had lied.
He said he took money from both of the stores.
He’s charged with two counts of fiduciary theft and false report of a crime.
