Macon Restaurant Week returns with 20 downtown restaurants and chance for patrons to win $250
Diners can explore signature dishes and budget-friendly specials while collecting stamps for a chance to win a $250 gift card.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon Restaurant Week is back in downtown Macon, giving diners the opportunity to explore special menu items at 20 locally owned restaurants.
The second annual event is presented by Macon Magazine and NewTown Macon and features two options at participating restaurants: signature dishes and special dishes.
Signature dishes are premium, chef-driven creations or popular restaurant favorites, while special dishes offer more budget-friendly and shareable options.
Diners can pick up a Macon Restaurant Week passport at participating downtown businesses.
After visiting five participating businesses and collecting five stamps, participants will receive a Macon Magazine merchandise item and a one-year subscription to Macon Magazine.
They will also be entered for a chance to win a $250 gift card to the downtown Macon business of their choice.
To enter the giveaway, participants should send a photo of their completed passport showing five stamps to hello@maconmagazine.com.

Haley Purvis, director of marketing for NewTown Macon, said the event gives diners different price points and ways to experience participating restaurants.
“We have 20 restaurants this year that are participating. Of those, each restaurant is doing one signature, which is a chef-driven kind of splurge-worthy item, and then we also have a special, which is going to be your more budget-friendly, shareable options.”
Purvis said diners can also earn prizes while supporting businesses throughout downtown.
“You can get a passport at any of our downtown businesses that are participating and then if you get five stamps, so as you go take your passport out, ask her waitress if she can stamp it. Once you hit five, you will receive a Macon Magazine merch item as well as a one-year subscription to Macon Magazine, and you’ll be entered to win a $250 gift card to the winner’s choice of a downtown business.”
Purvis said the event is designed to bring more people downtown and encourage them to support local businesses.
“This is going to bring more people downtown. It’s going to encourage them to hopefully get their passports filled out. Get a prize and also support local businesses.”
Reid’s Tavern is one of the restaurants participating in this year’s event.
The downtown restaurant opened in March, making this its first opportunity to participate in Macon Restaurant Week.
Co-owner and chef Johnathan Johnson said the restaurant is offering two signature dishes.
“We have two really exciting dishes. The first one is a miso-glazed salmon that comes with broccolini. It hits all those wonderful Asian new mommy kind of notes, I think, and I personally love salmon, so I’m happy that we can get it on the menu and the other is a prime rib with au gratin, potato tower, broccolini, and then two different sauces, your traditional horseradish, and then a French red wine Bordelais sauce instead of a regular au jus.”
Johnson said he is excited for J. Reid’s Tavern to be part of the event after opening earlier this year.
“We opened in March, so this is our first opportunity. I remember my business partner talking about the whisperings of Restaurant Week back when she Kinjo it. It’s nice to see it actually come to fruition and now we get to be part of it. I could not be happier.”
People interested in taking part in Macon Restaurant Week can visit participating downtown businesses, pick up a passport and begin collecting stamps.
Once five stamps have been collected, participants can receive the Macon Magazine prizes and enter the $250 gift card giveaway.
The completed passport can be submitted by emailing a photo to hello@maconmagazine.com or by mailing or delivering it to Macon Magazine at 1083 Washington Ave. in Macon.
