Macon Residents tired of blighted neighborhoods

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Abandoned Properties are on the rise in Macon. This year the city has demolished 27 dilapidated buildings.

Still the city has hundreds of blightened buildings awaiting demolition. This past January Saleenda Johnson moved into the Pleasant Hill neighborhood and has seen many buildings around her become abandoned, including a church next to her house.

“”It brings the house value down, nobody wants to stay around abandoned properties,” she said.

As abandoned buildings continue to rise, so will the fight to stop blight.
