Macon residents to honor lives lost at Gun Violence Awareness Vigil

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Residents in Macon-Bibb wore orange on Monday to honor victims of gun violence at a rally at city hall.

The event comes just one year after the pulse night club shooting in Orlando.

Organizer Sarah Hunt says she wants draw attention to the rampant gun violence going on across the country but especially here in Macon-Bibb.

“When we look at where our nation is today we’ve got to find another way–another way to solve our differences,” she said.

They’re inviting the entire community out tonight at 6:00 PM in front of the Macon-Bibb County Government Center. They’ll hear from several speakers. Then, a balloon release and candle light ceremony will follow. The event will end around 10:00 PM.
