Macon Red Cross blood donation center closing June 19
41NBC received an email from the American Red Cross stating that June 19 will be the last day the donation center on Bloomfield Road will receive donations.
Kristin Stancil, a spokeswoman with the American Red Cross, tells 41NBC they aren’t granting interviews but sent us a statement:
“The Red Cross, like the rest of the blood industry, is facing tough economic conditions. To achieve our mission to provide lifesaving blood products to hospital patients, it is critical that we efficiently manage our resources,” Stancil said.
Blood donors are urged to continue giving blood at the donation center in Columbus or during other blood drives in middle Georgia.
“The Red Cross mission has not changed and we remain committed to Central Georgia communities. The Red Cross will continue to provide patients, hospitals and blood donors with the same high level of quality service they expect and deserve. Emergency disaster response, health and safety training and other services will continue,” Stancil said.
