Macon Pops Orchestra to Debut in October

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The music scene in Macon is about to get even bigger, with the addition of a brand new pops orchestra.

This October at the Macon City Auditorium, the Macon Pops Orchestra will make it’s big entrance into the city’s rich musical history. It will feature artistic director and conductor Matt Catingub, who has helmed other pops orchestra debuts in Hawaii and L.A.

Steve Moretti is the executive director of the Macon Pops. He explained why Macon was such a good choice to be the new home of a pops orchestra.

“We’ve got such a great music history here, we’re in the middle of this sort of cultural renaissance that’s happening. Why not bring top quality pops music?,” Moretti says.

The orchestra will play music from throughout the 20th century and even some contemporary It’s different from other symphonic concerts because there will be local chefs on hand, delicious food and drinks, and you’ll even get to dance.

The Macon Pops Orchestra debuts October 26th at 7:30pm at the Macon City Auditorium.
