MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission is getting input from the youth as they plan for the future.

Kids at Lundy Higher Heights Academics and Fine Arts Summer Camp participated in a youth engagement activity focused on the county’s comprehensive plan. Officials say this effort helps them better understand what younger generations want to see in their community.

“Young people see the community different than we do, and there are some things that young people can share with us that we may not even know about,” said Gregory Brown, Planning Director for Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning.

During the activity, kids shared ideas like more technology opportunities and more nature spaces.

Officials say the feedback will be used to create actionable items in the plan, which will guide growth and development over the next 20 to 30 years.
