Macon Mayhem clinch playoff spot for first time since 2021

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Mayhem are headed back to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

Macon secured its postseason spot Friday night with a 6-2 road win over the Fayetteville Marksmen after a 4-1 win over the same team Thursday.

According to Southern Professional Hockey League standings, the Mayhem have clinched the eighth and final playoff spot with 58 points entering the final day of the regular season.

Before the series in Fayetteville, the Mayhem dropped two of three games. They beat the Knoxville Ice Bears 4-1 on March 27, then lost 4-2 the following night and fell 3-0 to the Huntsville Havoc on March 29.

Team officials say a first-round home playoff game will be held at the Macon Coliseum next week. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m., though the opponent, date, and time have not yet been announced.

The Mayhem close out the regular season Saturday at Fayetteville, with puck drop set for 6 p.m.
