Macon man pleads guilty for sex trafficking of children

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon man will serve 30 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to running a child sex trafficking operation.

Federal authorities say 28-year-old Arthur Gerald Reid pleaded guilty to federal sex trafficking charges in December.

Investigators say he admitted to prostituting a child on an erotic services website from September 2011 to February 2013. Reid arranged the meetings at motels in Macon and Tybee Island.

Federal authorities say Reid was violent toward the victim.

Reid was taken into custody on February 26, 2013 at a Macon motel. Authorities say two other juvenile victims were there and Reid admitted to prostituting them through the website, too. Investigators also found a BB gun, which the victims thought was a real firearm.

“Mr. Reid was willing to sell the childhood of these young victims for a few dollars, profiting on the previsions of the “johns” who responded to his internet ads and the vulnerabilities of these children,” U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia Michael Moore said. “His lengthy prison sentence means that he will not be a threat to other children in Middle Georgia for the majority of his life.”

The FBI, GBI, and Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
