Macon man arrested after car chase, accident

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Macon man after a chase down Highway 41 into Bibb County.

52-year-old Jonathan Jackson is charged with theft by shoplifting and multiple traffic violations. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Jackson stole 21 pairs of jeans from the Tractor Supply Store in Forsyth on Saturday.

A deputy saw the car the suspect was driving on Highway 41 and tried to pull the car over, but the driver didn’t stop.

The chase continued onto I-475 into Bibb County. The deputy performed a PIT maneuver on Pio Nono Avenue, which caused the driver to lose control and crash into a parked car, according to the sheriff’s office.

A female passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
