Macon Kentucky Fried Chicken closes after fire

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon Kentucky Fried Chicken won’t be serving customers for a few days after a fire Thursday afternoon.

The KFC on Bloomfield Road caught fire around 5:20 p.m.

The Macon-Bibb Fire Department was called when drivers noticed smoke coming from the building. When firefighters arrived, everyone was safely out of the building. The fire was on the exterior of the wall, but investigators are still working to figure out how it started.

“There is moderate damage to the structure. We had to fully disconnect the power for safety reasons and also the gas company came out and secured the gas as well,” said Assistant Fire Chief Shane Edwards.

The business won’t be open for the next few days. Edwards said contractors will have to come in and fix the damage to the inside of the building.
