Macon dentistry helps troops through candy program
Macon Smiles is participating in the national buy back program.
In the past five years the dentist office has averaged 100 pounds each year.
Macon Smiles says more and more children and even some adults are opening their hearts and their candy bags.
Operation Gratitude, a non-profit, donates more than 150,000 care packages a year.
The organization sends more than 150 thousand care packages filled with snacks, games, personal hygiene, hand-made items and personal letters of appreciation to active and retired service men and women.
Hamilton Darden, 15, and his mother drove from Monroe County to participate in the buy back.
“I gave four pounds, and with the money, I will buy some legos,” Darden said.
Macon Smiles will be collecting candy through Thursday.
Anyone can donate candy or make donations to Operation Gratitude.
