Dr. Johnathan Roberts named superintendent of Macon County Schools
The Macon County Board of Education selected Dr. Johnathan Roberts to lead the district after nearly 20 years of service in Georgia schools.

OGLETHORPE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Dr. Johnathan Roberts has been appointed superintendent of Macon County Schools, the district announced in a news release on Tuesday.
The school board selected Roberts following his nearly 20 years of work in education. He most recently served as Deputy Superintendent of Lamar County Schools, and his career has included roles as a special education teacher, assistant principal and exceptional student education director, the district said.
According to the district, Roberts is known for his focus on servant leadership, data-driven decision-making and building student-centered learning environments.
Roberts is a graduate of Georgia’s Premier Superintendent Professional Development Program.
“The Board is confident that Dr. Roberts’ commitment to academic excellence, equity, and collaboration will benefit students, staff, families, and the broader community,” the district said in the release. “His vision aligns with the district’s mission of ensuring that every student has the opportunity and support needed to succeed.”
