Macon man sentenced after 2022 Christmas Eve domestic violence incident
Prosecutors say the incident involved threats against children and a handgun during a family gathering.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Macon man has been sentenced to 25 years, with the first three years in prison, after a Christmas Eve domestic violence incident that involved threats against children and a firearm, according to a news release from the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
District Attorney Anita Howard said Tommy Galloway was convicted in connection with an incident on December 24, 2022 in which he arrived home intoxicated and armed with a handgun during a family Christmas gathering.
According to the release, Galloway assaulted his girlfriend to stop her from calling 911 and later pointed a gun at a 14-year-old who called for help.
The district attorney’s office said Galloway threatened family members and deputies captured the threats on body-worn camera footage. Deputies later arrested Galloway and recovered the firearm, according to the release.
A Bibb County grand jury indicted Galloway on multiple charges, including aggravated assault family violence, cruelty to children in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, terroristic threats, hindering an emergency telephone call and battery family violence, the district attorney’s office said.
According to the release, Galloway entered a non-negotiated guilty plea on January 27. Prosecutors said he faced a possible maximum sentence of 82 years. The state requested 45 years with the first 25 to be served in prison. The court sentenced Galloway to 25 years with three years in prison.
“Domestic violence cases are among the most challenging we prosecute because victims often become uncooperative due to love, fear, or financial constraints,” Howard said. “But we remain committed to seeking justice, especially when children are involved.”
