Macon boutique encouraging you to walk barefoot for a day
It’s a national, and annual event created by Toms Shoes. The company, which gives a pair of shoes to a child in need every time you purchase a pair, holds ODWS annually to raise awareness about the millions of kids who walk barefoot everyday.
Owner of Head Over Heels Boutique, Ashley Pyron, said partnering with Toms Shoes for the event was a no brainer.
“It’s very passionate for them to promote this but, there’s millions of children who don’t have shoes out there. And we put on our shoes everyday and don’t think about the fact that we have 10, 20 pairs to chose from, and there’s kids out there with none,” said Pyron.
Head Over Heels is going all out for the event. Some of the activities going on at the store Tuesday include foot painting, raffles for free shoes and pedicures, and free t-shirt giveaways. Representatives from Toms Shoes will also be on hand to talk more about the cause.
To help you experience what it’d be like to walk in, or in this case, without another person’s shoes, Pyron is setting up boxes with different terrains where millions of kids walk barefoot. Also, she, the staff, and anyone else who’s interested are going to walk down Forsyth Road at 4pm on Tuesday.
Activities are going on all day at the store from 10am to 6pm. It’s located at 4123 Forsyth Road, Suite E. Also, if you bring in a canned good, which will go to the Macon Rescue Mission, you’ll receive 15% off of a pair of Toms Shoes.
