Macon-Bibb leaders celebrate first business opening in new business improvement district
Farmers Insurance opened up a location at 3736 Eisenhower Parkway. It’s one of the first new businesses to open since leaders pushed to create an improvement board to bring commerce back to the Eisenhower Corridor.
“We will be actively recruiting new businesses and we think you’re going to see businesses move back to the corridor with the business improvement district now in place,” Mark Stevens, a business improvement district board member and CEO of the Macon Mall, says.
The board, run by seven members and an executive director, will recruit businesses to come back to the area to increase foot traffic and economic growth along Eisenhower Parkway from the mall to I-475.
“We’re looking generally for all kinds of businesses for service industries, services businesses like ‘Farmers’. Then retail business,” Stevens says.
Although the board didn’t have influence on persuading ‘Farmers’ to move to its new location, Stevens says the board will do everything it can to support the insurance company and make sure it stays and is successful.
