Macon-Bibb hosts road and pedestrian safety town hall
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)— Macon-Bibb County leaders hosted a town hall Monday night about road and pedestrian safety. Commissioners Al Tillman and Mallory Jones hosted it.
They explained the different types of speed calming devices, and how neighborhoods can get speed calming devices installed.
Residents also had the chance to voice their concerns for their neighborhoods. Commissioner Tillman explained the process of getting a speed calming device in your neighborhood.
“First of all you have to contact your commissioner in your area. There has to be a study done,” he said. “And after the study is done you want to make sure the community is on board.”
Streets they’re looking at right now include Ridge Avenue, Leon Drive, Mumford Road, Hollingsworth Avenue, and Log Cabin Drive.
Mayor Lester Miller said school zone cameras that issue tickets are coming soon. He also says the county has a survey out right now for red light cameras to see if there’s an interest in bringing those to the county.
