Macon-Bibb firefighters host training for insurance investigators

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb Fire Department recruits got a special lesson on how to determine the cause of fires.

The department hosted a training class for insurance investigators on Thursday. Firefighters demonstrated how blazes can start inside a home and what investigators need to know to determine the cause of fires.

Assistant Fire Chief Shane Edwards says his 28 recruits got the chance to see a fire from beginning to end.

“Them being out here is also giving them an opportunity for a little more experience and a little background with how fires start and how to determine they did start,” Edwards said.

Insurance investigators from across the state participated in the training.
