Macon-Bibb Fire Officials Investigating Fatal House Fire

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An elderly Macon man is fighting for his life at the Augusta Burn Center after his home caught on fire Sunday morning.

Bibb County Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley tells 41NBC 83-year-old Henry Jones and his wife, 80-year-old Virginia Jones, were inside the home off Bristol Drive at the time of the fire. Miley says they were both air-lifted to Augusta.

Miley tells 41NBC Virginia died Sunday night from her injuries.

The Macon-Bibb Fire Department says the fire was contained to the bedroom. Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
