Macon-Bibb County receives federal law enforcement grant

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb County received a federal grant that will help prevent and control crime.

U.S. Congressman Sanford Bishop says the county won a FY14 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant worth $78,254 from the U.S. Department of Justice. The grant will allow the county to buy law enforcement equipment as well as provide education ans supervision services for the Drug Court Outreach program.

“Funding from the JAG grant goes the distance to assist county and municipality based law enforcement get drugs off the street,” Bishop said in a statement. “Additionally, I am grateful for this opportunity extended to Macon-Bibb County to continue to provide individuals and families in the Drug Court programs access to the treatment and services they need to recover and lead successful lives.”
