Macon-Bibb County Commission votes to increase fees at Bowden Golf Course

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – With new renovations come new prices. If you enjoy golfing over at Bowden Golf Course it’s going to cost you a few more dollars.

Commissioners voted unanimously on a resolution to increase membership fees and the rate for daily use at the course on Tuesday night.

This was after a marketing study on golf courses within 100 square miles found that Bowden had the lowest the costs on the list.

“So every golf course around us was higher at our old rates but now that we have a new product we decided to go up some areas 2 or 3 dollars and the membership is $100 more,” said Head Golf Professional Jack Dean.

After installing new turf and updating facilities, they’re hoping they can begin generating revenue at Bowden and continue to use that revenue to sustain the course.
