Macon-Bibb Consolidation Task Force Unveils New Logo

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – As the official merger of Macon and Bibb County inches closer, officials unveiled the brand new government’s logo.

At the monthly meeting on Wednesday, the Macon-Bibb Consolidation Task Force approved the group’s new look. Chris Floore, Macon’s Public Affairs Officer, said the emblem has an upward motion around the cityscape, representing the government’s mobility and the font color will be changed to black for clarity. The image was funded by the Knight Foundation grant and will be used for the new website while it’s under construction. It is up to the new government in January to decide if it will keep the logo.

Consolidated Office Space

The Macon-Bibb Consolidation Task Force Facilities Committee talked about merging government offices on Wednesday afternoon. The county purchased the old Capital City Bank Building on 3rd and Walnut Streets, where the new tax commissioner’s office will be located. There is now a bid out for the old Sears building at the corner of 3rd Street and Riverside Drive. If approved, all of the city and county’s records will relocate there.

“We’re very excited about that because it’s going to save the community money,” said Leonard Bevill, the facilities’ committee chairman, “but most importantly it will make it an easier process to get what you need from a records stand point.”

The new tax commissioner building cost $350,000 and was paid for using bonds. Currently, the city and county lease separate buildings to hold records, with the one location, Bevill said it will “cut cost”.
