Macon-Bibb commissioners consider Centreplex renovations
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb County commissioners are considering ways to improve the Macon Centreplex.
After hearing several complaints, county leaders are fearful moving slow to repair the 50-year-old facility could result in losing the annual high school basketball championships. Commissioner Mallory Jones says improving the parking lot around the building would be a start.
“We’ve got people talking about saying anywhere but Macon. We’ve held the state tournaments here for years and years and years, so we’ve got to do something with that facility and I think probably the biggest impact is going to be the next SPLOST,” Jones said.
Commissioner Jones says coaches were complaining about one way to exit the Centreplex, along with the worn down state of the basketball courts.
As of now, commissioner don’t have a plan set in place to address the concerns.
