Macon-Bibb Board of Elections Office looking to move

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Staff at the Macon-Bibb Board of Elections office says its current office building is too small.

County commissioners are working on a deal to move the elections office a little further down Pio Nono Avenue to vacant space near the old Westgate Mall.

Elections supervisor Jeanetta Watson says during voting periods, the halls in the old building can get overcrowded.

“We retain a lot of records here and we just needed more space. More space for the voters. Everything that we can do to make the voters’ voting experience as smooth a transition as possible and the staff as well,” Watson said.

Commissioners will vote on whether to move the office at their next commission meeting on Tuesday.
