77-year-old man dies after being struck on Lilly Avenue in Macon
A 77-year-old man died after being struck Thursday night near Mercer University Drive. His name has not been released.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 77-year-old man died Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle on Lilly Avenue near Mercer University Drive.
It’s Macon-Bibb County’s 16th pedestrian death this year, according to Coroner Leon Jones.
The crash was reported around 7:36 p.m., according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office said a 55-year-old man driving a white Tahoe struck the pedestrian as he crossed the road. The sheriff’s office says the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.
Deputies found the man unresponsive when they got there. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead.
Deputies made contact with the driver at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
The pedestrian’s name will be released after his family has been notified.
