Macon Bacon falls to Savannah Bananas in season opener
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Bacon kicked off its 2020 baseball season Wednesday, on the road against rival Savannah Bananas.
There was a socially distanced crowd of 15-hundred people at Grayson Stadium.
The Bacon got off to a rough start. A bad throw-over by pitcher Matt Litwicki in the first inning gave the Bananas an early 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately, the Bacon would struggle all night. Bill Knight’s single put the Bananas up 2-0, and they would never look back.
The Bananas scored five runs in the first inning. They’d go on to blank the Bacon, 8-0.
The Bacon host Savannah Thursday in their home opener at Luther Williams field.
