Lyft offering ride credits to Georgia drivers to prevent drunk driving during holidays
Users will be granted a one-time $20 ride credit, which can be used for rides across Georgia.

ATLANTA (41NBC/WMGT) — The Governor’s Highway Safety Association (GHSA) and rideshare company Lyft have partnered with the Georgia’s Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to offer $20 ride credits as part of an effort to curb drunk driving during the holiday season.
The GHSA has provided a $20,000 grant to GOHS for funding ride credits on Lyft. The credits are available to Lyft account holders during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve holidays (daily from 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.)
To take advantage, account holders can enter the discount code GAGOHS2023 in the Lyft app or scan this QR Code. Users will be granted a one-time $20 ride credit, which can be used for rides across Georgia. The credit must be redeemed within two weeks after being claimed.
From 2017 to 2021, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports 36 percent of individuals killed in vehicle crashes in Georgia on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day involved a driver with a Blood-Alcohol Concentration (BAC) level above the state’s legal limit of .08. 81 percent of drunk driving crashes in Georgia during these dates involved a driver with a BAC twice the legal limit, NHTSA reported.
GOHS says all drunk driving deaths are preventable and strongly advises anyone who plans to consume alcohol to arrange a sober ride in advance.
