Lucas proud of first term, looking for a second in Georgia senate
While his health care bill, targeting rural areas of Georgia, didn’t make it through this session, Lucas says he’s pleased Governor Nathan Deal signed an executive order appointing a task force to oversee them, and allowing rural health care facilities to stay open, at least temporarily.
Lucas, like most Democrats, fought some tough battles at the state house this past session. But, he promises, despite the super majority of the Republican party at the state capitol, the Democratic party is not going anywhere.
In terms of leadership, Lucas says nearly four decades of experience under the gold dome is what sets him apart from his opponent. He pointed to securing the expansion of Geico as an example of how his leadership in Atlanta has impacted middle Georgia.
