Local Toys For Tots campaign to host ‘Stuff the Truck’ event this weekend

MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s the season for giving! If you want to give back this holiday season, Toys for Tots is one way to do so.

Toys for Tots is run by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve whose mission, according to their website, is “to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.”

Wendy Chadwell is the Toys for Tots coordinator in Warner Robins. She stopped by the 41NBC News Studio Wednesday morning to talk about the local Toys for Tots campaign and how people can give donations.

Chadwell says that last year the Warner Robins campaign served 7,000 kids across Middle Georgia with the help of the community’s toys and monetary donations.

This year, the goal is to collect even more toys so that no child celebrates the holidays without a gift.

All categories of toys and age ranges are needed, especially toys for infants and teenage kids.

This weekend Warner Robins’s Toys for Tots campaign will host a special “Stuff the Truck” event at the Walmart on Booth Road in Warner Robins. Shoppers are encouraged to either purchase toys from Walmart or bring toys to the truck to stuff it full of toys for local children to enjoy this holiday season!

For more information on how to donate or where to drop off your wrapped toys, visit the Toys for Tots website by clicking here. Donations will be accepted up until December 14, 2018.
