Local store says holiday shopping weekend was a success

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The holiday shopping season is here and continues with Cyber Monday. Black Friday kicked off the season, and Small Business Saturday followed.

These special offer days are not only benefiting big stores, but local shops as well.

“It’s one of the biggest crowd we’ve had in here for sure,” said Karats and Keepsakes Owner, Julie Evans. “We had a line outside the door at Karats and Keepsakes with people waiting. All wrapped up in blankets and ready to come in. I’m not sure how long they’d been here but I think it’d bee a while.”

Evans says this past weekend was the best one yet.

“The store was packed, so when you were moving around, you definitely had to have people step aside, so that you could get through,” said Evans.

The local clothing boutique also benefited from Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. Evans recently decided to participate in the online shopping day.

“We definitely thought it would enhance our business,” said Evans. “Our customers like to come in and touch and feel the clothes, try them on and make sure they fit.”

Evans says although people are doing more online shopping, there’s nothing like Black Friday.

“That day after Thanksgiving everybody’s ready to shop they’re ready to come in and get what they want,” said Evans. “The girls are home from college, girls are out from high school. The grandmothers come in and it’s just a family affair.”

Evans says this is only their second year participating in Cyber Monday, and it’s already been very successful.
