Local sorority chapter feeds 100 families for Thanksgiving

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Thanksgiving is this Thursday and a local sorority chapter is making sure some families in Macon don’t go without a Thanksgiving dinner.

The Epsilon Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is handing out boxes of food.

The women put together almost 100 baskets of food. Families get the full meal: dressing, collard greens, turkeys, beans, you name it.

The chapter’s president says they’re addressing the needs of under privileged kids to make sure they eat.

“There’s a great need for us to come together and show that we are one, that I’m no better than you and that we’re equal. I’m going to eat Thursday, I want to make sure you eat too,” chapter president Branda Youmas said.

In December, the sorority chapter will be giving coats and shoes to children in need.
