Local pastor speaks out about gun violence

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A local pastor is speaking out about the recent shootings in Macon-Bibb county.

Dr. David Stanley, pastor of Union Baptist Church says it starts in the home. He says the killings need to stop.

Stanley believes having community members law enforcement, and churches come together and talk with the youth can possibly prevent the gun violence.

Pastor Stanley says, “The churches are going to have to go in the community and stay in the community. Other civic organizations are going to have to go in the communities and stay into the communities. That’s when we’ll start seeing a difference.”

Union Baptist Church is in the Fort Hill neighborhood. Stanley says his church doors are always open.

He says the church offers a variety of activities throughout the year to minister to the community.
