Local Organization Cuts Check For New Water Park Additions
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon’s well-know music organization, Bragg Jam cut a check for thousands of dollars to build a canoe takeout at a local park.
Today, the organization wrote a $10,000 check to Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, so they can begin building the new addition to Amerson River Park. In total, the popular music assembly will give $40,000 toward the project.
Ocmlugee Heritage Trail, Newtown Macon and Bragg Jam partnered to create the plan, and map out construction details earlier this year.
Committee member for the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail Chris Sheridan says the takeout makes the process easier for park visitors who plan to use their canoes at the river.
“This is a public-private partnership. We’ve got money from the federal government to build a lot of water works parks, but we did not have enough money to do everything that we wanted to do,” Sheridan says, “One of the real things that we were missing was a canoe takeout.”
Construction to build the canoe takeout is set to begin January 1, 2014.
