Local groups team up to collect donations for hurricane victims

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Community members and business owners are coming together to help victims of Hurricane Michael as they begin to start over.

Members of the Middle Georgia Shriner’s Club are teaming up with Mitchell’s Automotive to collect a truck load of donations to send down to the Florida Panhandle.

Shriner and Monroe County Commissioner John Ambrose says after seeing how hard those communities were hit, they wanted to do what they could to help the families that lost everything.

“We’re looking for any non perishable goods, diapers, food–anything that’s non perishable that we can take down there to them because it’s devastated down there. We’re trying to take anything we can get down there to them,” said Ambrose.

They’ll be collecting donations all week up until next Monday. You can drop them off at Mitchell’s Automotive anytime during their normal hours 8:00 am – 5:30 pm.
