MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgians are set to welcome the new year with a variety of celebrations ranging from a traditional balloon drop to a Beyoncé-themed celebration. Here’s a sampling of events scheduled for Sunday, December 31. Know of another event? Email us at news@41nbc.com.

  • Shamrock Drop in Downtown Dublin (Dublin): Downtown Dublin brings back the New Year’s Eve Shamrock Drop. The event, suitable for all ages, includes a free “Gru” year movie showing at Theatre Dublin and live music by The Soul Shine Band. A lit shamrock will descend from the Fred Roberts building at midnight.
  • Forsythia Ball Drop (Forsyth): Forsyth Main Street invites you to grab your chairs and join in on the fun on the courthouse square. The event will include music by DJ Ron, a photo booth from Cook Rentals, food trucks and games.
  • Just Tap’d Balloon Drop (Macon): The annual New Year’s Eve celebration at Just Tap’d is a staple in Macon. More than 600 balloons will cascade down as patrons toast to 2024. The event boasts a selection of more than 64 craft beers and 40 wines, along with $4 champagne glasses. Guests can also enjoy the live broadcast of the NYC ball drop.
  • Renaissance Downtown Tour in Macon (Macon): Downtown Macon hosts a Beyoncé-themed New Year’s Eve Extravaganza, starting at 6 p.m. The Renaissance Downtown Tour invites attendees to celebrate with Beyoncé-inspired era props and a variety of specials at local venues. Highlights include a NYE Ball Drop in Rosa Parks Square, a masquerade party at Serenity Lounge and an Alien Superstar NYE celebration at Reboot.
  • Ultimate Black Affair (Macon): 9 Entertainment presents The Ultimate Black Affair at the Macon Centreplex. The New Year’s Eve party features a special performance by R&B legends Atlantic Starr, sponsored by Ciroc. The night promises live music, laughter and a midnight champagne toast. Tickets are $40 in advance and are available at several local outlets and 9-Ent.com.
  • Perry Buzzard Drop (Perry): The event, which starts Perry’s 200th Birthday Celebration, will feature live entertainment from Cash’s Juke Joint and DjMixmaster T. Attendees can enjoy a variety of dining options and spirits in the historic area. The event is family-friendly, offering free activities like face painting and a photo booth, starting with a “Kiddie Countdown” at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at midnight. Personal heaters and outside coolers are prohibited, but chairs and blankets are welcome. A courtesy shuttle service will be provided by the Perry Police Department. Prior to the Buzzard Drop, the city will honor the Perry High School State Football Champions. The celebration, beginning at 6:30 p.m., will include a procession of players and cheerleaders, escorted by Perry Fire & Emergency Services, from Legacy Park to the City Hall lawn.
  • Unadilla Hog Drop (Unadilla): Bring in the new year with the annual Hog Drop! It starts at 6 p.m. The city says this year’s event features “fan favorite booths” and a “few extras” like axe throwing and a Steel Rodeo show, along with a BBQ competition.
