Starting this week, several Macon-Bibb recreation centers will close temporarily for routine maintenance on their gymnasium floors, the county announced on Monday.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Starting this week, several Macon-Bibb recreation centers will close temporarily for routine maintenance on their gymnasium floors, the county announced on Monday.
The maintenance will require a one-day closure of each facility and a two-day closure of each gymnasium.
“The below dates are the closures for the facility, and the gymnasium part will be closed the day after, as well,” the county said in a news release.
- December 19 – L.H. Williams Recreation Center (325 Pursley Street)
- December 23 – South Bibb Recreation Center (7035 Houston Road)
- December 23 – Rosa Jackson Community Center (1211 Maynard Street)
- December 30 – Bloomfield-Gilead Recreation Center (1931 Rocky Creek Road)
- December 30 – Memorial Park Recreation Center (2465 Second Street)
Required maintenance will include cleaning the floors with Riding Orbital scrubbers using Sports Prep and EcoPrep Pads. Crews will also tack the entire floor area and apply a high solids polyurethane gym finish to the entire floor.
“This work will help keep the floors in great playable condition,” Recreation Director Robert Walker said. “This is typically done during the holidays because we have lower attendance and means we can minimize any interruption in people enjoying the facilities.”
