Laurens County deputy charged in domestic violence case, placed on administrative leave

DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Laurens County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been charged with battery-family violence and third-degree cruelty to children following a domestic violence investigation in Dublin, according to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.
29-year-old Justin Brett Padgett was arrested May 3 after deputies responded to an assault call at a home on Sportsmans Club Road, according to an incident report.
The report states children were involved and present during the incident.
The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Padgett was employed as a deputy with the agency and has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
Officials said Padgett bonded out of jail May 4. The case remains under investigation.
