MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Freeze Warning has been issued for several Middle Georgia counties as low temperatures around the freezing point are expected overnight.

The Rest of the Evening

Skies will stay clear and the wind will remain gusty through this evening and tonight. Gusts will likely range from 20-25 mph most of tonight from the north-northwest, likely leading to wind chills below freezing by tomorrow morning. Actual low temperatures will be around the freezing point for most of Middle Georgia. Farmers should spray their crops to avoid major damages.

Tomorrow

It will be another sunny day around Middle Georgia for the Vernal Equinox (first day of spring). Highs will only reach into the low 60s following the frigid morning conditions. In fact, Tuesday will likely be the coolest afternoon of the week despite the fact that it is the first day of spring. Pollen levels will be a bit lower thanks to the rain Sunday and the cooler highs. Winds will range from 5-12 mph as they shift from the northwest to the southwest through the afternoon.

Overnight skies will again be clear as temperatures plummet into the mid to upper 30s. Winds will stay out of the west at about 5-10 mph.

Wednesday and Beyond

Wednesday will be warmer but still just as sunny before clouds roll in Thursday afternoon. Rain is likely Thursday night and throughout the day Friday (could maybe linger into Friday night as well). The weekend looks pleasant and dry, however the European model is suggesting the possibility for showers Saturday (this did not verify this past Saturday).
