Lane closures announced for I-475 in Macon as Tucker Road bridge replacement begins
GDOT says the lane closures are expected to be in place for "up to one year."

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on I-475 as part of the Tucker Road bridge replacement project, set to begin later this week.
How long will lane closures on I-475 last?
Starting Sunday night, August 11, crews will close the inside lanes on both I-475 Northbound and Southbound at the Tucker Road overpass bridge. This is part of the ongoing Tucker Road bridge replacement project. The closures will reduce traffic to the two right lanes, and the speed limit will be decreased from 70 mph to 60 mph in the affected area. To facilitate a permanent traffic shift, temporary barrier walls will be installed in each closed lane.
Traffic adjustments and lane closures on I-475: What to expect
“These conditions are expected to remain in place for up to one year,” GDOT stated in a news release.
GDOT is advising motorists to expect delays, exercise caution and reduce speed while traveling through the work zones on I-475.
The department also encourages drivers to stay informed about real-time traffic conditions by using the Georgia 511 services. Drivers can check real-time traffic conditions by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 app. GDOT also notes that the planned dates for the lane closures may change due to weather or other unforeseen factors.
